Element Six is a global leader in the design, development and production of synthetic diamond advanced materials. Element Six synthetic diamond supermaterials are used in industrial applications such as cutting, grinding, drilling, shearing and polishing, while the extreme properties of synthetic diamond beyond hardness are opening up new applications in a wide array of industries such as optics, power transmission, water treatment, semi-conductors and sensors.

The continuing miniaturization and integration of information technologies requires a better understanding and control of the quantum nature of matter that becomes dominant at the (sub) nm scale. By exploiting quantum effects, such as coherence and entanglement, we can create new and innovative devices and materials that will shape the future of technology and positively impact society as a whole. QMat prepares the next generation of quantum scientists and engineers for this task, by putting outstanding MSc and PhD students at the forefront of international research combined with an engaging training programme bridging physics, material science, chemistry and engineering.

Empa is the interdisciplinary research institute for materials science and technology development of the ETH Domain. Its mission: to develop materials and technologies for a sustainable future. CFM is a research centre devoted to promote cutting-edge fundamental research on advanced materials, as well as to create new cohorts of highly skilled scientists who can face the challenges of excellence in research of materials science. The overall aim of CFM is to create a scientific and human environment of high quality devoted to excellence in the area of Material Physics research.

Nanom creates nano-enhanced materials that can be integrated into the battery technologies of tomorrow. Nanotechnology can greatly increase the size and surface of battery electrodes by creating more efficient energy storage through material innovation. Structures can also be enhanced or even become the battery itself.
